Again- it’s not unbuildable. It’s just sort of silly looking. The Tamiya kit (left) is designed this way. From what I've seen at shows, they all look very nice. I suppose the conclusion I am getting to on this aspect is Airfix would do well (in my opinion) to either create parts breakdowns that play to their tooling capabilities, or improve their tooling capabilities to be in line with their (appropriate) engineering ambitions. For both kits, I glued the aft portions of the fuselage together, inserted the cockpit tub, and then glued the rest together. 1/48th, but there are a fair few excellent extra detailing kits available as well. They are affordable, buildable, and quite enjoyable. As said, the Revell 1/32 Spifire mk1 and mk9 do build up to a very nice model. I - It's Black And White (And Silver, Green, And Brown, Too...). However, when it comes to Spitfire seats- I toss them all out and use Ultracast. And here’s where I have some minor heartburn with Airfix. One more note….
