And I had really because I got myself out there and networked a little bit, and there’s such a demand for accounting finance professionals that we’re constantly being sought after. That you have a great chance of making Partner if you stick with it — that you want to advance to manager before leaving the firm. Two, you’ve got network, and three, skills. Leaving the Big 4? Day-to-day work involves month-end closes, journal entries, etc. There is, for our CPAs in Big 4 or in the other firms, there is just such a wide net of opportunities. Yeah, I’ve had a huge mix, quite a variety of experiences. Whether you’re on the partner track or you’re making your own path, this is Abacus. But it’s not an easy journey; though finance roles do exist for CPAs, they are not only rare, but incredibly competitive to land. Such candidates, though impressive in their own right, don’t possess the operational accounting experience necessary for the job – instead, they have only audit experience to offer. So that’s one of the probably most consistent trends, but what we do, we actually send a personalized salary report to each member that requests it to give them insights. I haven’t seen people so strict on a specific factor when it comes to picking out their new job. The reason you go into public accounting or Big 4, and you generally take a haircut in your salary, is because you’re creating that intangible value. So consider the network.

Vince LoRusso:  Absolutely. And you want to consider your network in your next job. Fast forward a couple of years and looking at where they are, I'd say most have since been promoted to a senior position. You’re the one that is able to develop soft skills, because you have to interact with people consistently, whether it’s your audit team or your clients.

I personally left the Big 4 after 2 years and it doesn't affect any of my subsequent applications to other companies. Accounting finance professionals are very much needed and in demand. And just touching on the consulting piece, I think that’s a lot of … People think if they want to go into consulting, they have to stay at their Big 4 firm, and they are kind of nervous about how to make that transition. Ask yourself those questions, and are you just over it? Coming out of audit at one of the Big 4, you may be quick to dismiss an internal audit position – after all, that’s exactly what you’re trying to escape.
